As most college students would have done, this year for Christmas I asked for an oscilloscope! This is a core part of every electronics lab and can be used across practically every discipline of electrical and computer engineering. When I started working on this circuit I was originally making it to act as a basic waveform generator. I was going to create an astable 555 timer circuit and then put a low pass filter on the output to get a (close enough for my purposes) sinusoid. Then the thought occurred to put a potentiometer into the circuit and control the duty cycle. My circuit can be seen below.
