Introduction
Hello! My name is Nick Stassen and I’m currently a sophomore at The Ohio State University. I’m studying Computer Engineering and I’m a part of the DAQ (Data Analysis and Electronics) sub-team of Baja Buckeyes. I code in various different languages but most prominently Java, Python, and Arduino.
Baja Buckeyes is a part of the SAE club at OSU where various different student-lead teams compete against other schools to engineer a vehicle. The goal for Baja teams is to make an offroad vehicle using a 10hp engine. As part of DAQ, I frequently work with Arduinos and sensors to collect data on the vehicle’s functionality. Some recent projects I’ve completed include measuring the g-force on the vehicle’s suspension using an accelerometer, and creating a track run timer using pressure sensors the vehicle runs over to start and stop the timer. The pressure sensors were each connected to a separate Arduino which communicated using HC-12 transceivers. Check out Baja Buckeye’s website!
